Our collaboration with illustrator Amber Moonen

Why we are so happy with this collaboration
Amber Moonen creates illustrations that make you slow down for a moment. Her work radiates calm, much like the way you look at your child’s artwork. When we first saw her illustrations, we knew it immediately. This feels right. This fits Tiny Gallery. We both want to hold on to those fleeting, beautiful moments.
“A tiny little beetle can be incredibly beautiful, if you take the time to really look at it.” That is how Amber looks at the world. And us? We look at children’s drawings in exactly the same way.
Who is Amber Moonen?
Amber graduated in 2015 from the Amsterdam University of the Arts, where she studied Fine Art and Design. She works with watercolour, pencil and oil paint. Materials that invite her to slow down. You can feel that sense of calm in everything she creates, and see it reflected in the details of her work.
In 2021, Amber won the illustration competition Picture This!. Her images tell stories without using words. Just like children’s drawings, each artwork is a small adventure on paper. Alongside her paintings, Amber also illustrated the children’s book Sterrenkind, published by Lemniscaat.
